Chamara Greens

(Overview)
Located on a thriving permaculture farm outside Vadodara, Chamara Greens reimagines the dwelling as an extension of the landscape.
Tasked with designing a one-bedroom abode that feels both intimate and open, we drew inspiration from Ini Chatterji’s philosophy of architecture that is invisible and merges in the context.

Floating Sky and Shade Harnessing modern simulation tools, we sculpted each element to optimize light, heat, and airflow. Heat-maps and luminosity studies shaped the form factor of sliding screens and the dual roof system, ensuring soft daylight floods the interiors without overheating. This play with a floating plinth, creates a home that feels both sheltered and connected to nature. Crafting Within Constraints A tight budget became our design catalyst. By deploying structural optimization engines, steel-frame detailing, and dry-construction techniques, we reduced material waste and labor costs while amplifying refinement. Alternate material palettes were rigorously tested for durability, texture, and warmth to keep costs down without sacrificing quality. Immersive Realities To ensure the design worked as intended, we used Blender’s VR to refine the proportions and building element palettes. On-site AR overlays then mapped the design onto the actual farm, helping everyone see how the house would sit in its environment. This straightforward tech approach kept decisions clear and construction smooth, delivering a farmhouse true to its vision.
